My Fitness Bio:
As a mom to daughter Shaila, my gig as group fitness instructor, personal trainer, fitness blogger, contributing author on the Brinkzone and at Ultimate Fat Burner, fitness model, and “super-motivator” is the stress relieving remedy that keeps me going!
I officially became hooked on fitness the moment I first laid hands on a set of my dad’s dumbbells when I was 12. My family’s encouragement of my athletic endeavors took me on a fitness journey where I achieved several milestones: losing all the baby weight less than 2 months after a C-section; bench pressing my own body weight; and finishing a 5k in my personal best time and regularly placing in my age class! These proud moments are especially important to me as an Indian woman given the tendency of our culture to dismiss the value of athletic activities, and I am as motivated as ever to be a role model for everyone seeking healthier lifestyles.
My personal fitness journey continues and it just gets better and more exciting with time. I love to lead by example and inspire people to “go for it,” whatever their fitness goals may be.
How can I help YOU?
I’ll show you the best form and safest techniques: So that you can train injury free, for as long as possible.
I’ll be honest: Though you can see results in 30 days, if you stick around you will see amazing changes in your body that will take you beyond results in the short term. One day, you’ll look in the mirror and hardly recognize the body staring back at you!
I will tell you to persevere: Your family can get in the way, so can your job, and I will ask you to acknowledge that obstacles will happen. But I will also remind you that this is something you are doing for you and you deserve it.
I will motivate you, today and over the long-term: You will keep seeing results day after day, year after year, and you will eventually exceed your goal.
I’ll tell you to take it seriously: I will hold you accountable and expect that you show exceptional dedication.
I’ll educate you: On healthier eating choices, appropriate progressions in weight training, and cardiovascular routines.
I will lead you: But ask that you always listen to your body (your true boss)!
