Whenever I’d see Tasha at the gym, she was endlessly at it on the treadmill, running for hours at a time. After a few months of watching the sweatfest, I finally got hold of of her in a moment of weakness (loosely translated, I think I dropped a physioball on her head, lol). She told me she was preparing for a photoshoot, and having been down this road before on my own, I knew exactly what she needed to get the look she wanted.
The challenge with Tasha was that she already lean to start. If you think losing weight is hard (off of an already overweight individual) it’s even harder for a lean individual to lean out further. Hard but not impossible — and Tasha was ready and willing and to take it to the next level for her photoshoot.
Here’s how she got from hot to lingerie model ready.
1. What was the biggest shift that you had to make with regards to training?
Tasha: Not spending 3 hours in the gym was a huge shift! At first it felt (to me) as though I wasn’t doing enough. Before my personal training with you I didn’t feel like it was a workout unless I was killing myself through hours of training which really never amounted to real results.
2. Most people fail to realize how important their diet is when it comes to fat loss. Talk to me about the changes you made in your diet that helped you get to lingerie model ready.
Tasha: I used to be a firm believer in “you can eat whatever you want as long as you exercise” mainly because that’s what I hoped. If I had ran enough miles on the treadmill it wouldn’t matter what I ate.
But the diet really did make all the difference in the world, I finally feel as lean as I have always wanted to be.
As far as changes I chose the proteins, veggies, and fruits I liked most. For instance I love shrimp! I eat it everyday but the difference between the way I used to cook it and the way I do now are so different. I used to drench the shrimp in teriyaki and butter and all kinds of sauces which ended up making them more unhealthy than healthy.
Also portion control was a change, but you really do get the hang of it pretty quick. And now, honestly I really do crave my healthy meal plan I don’t find myself craving sodas, or fried food that often. And when I do, I save it for my treat meal so that I can have my break every once and awhile.
3. How important is it to have muscle tone for your confidence level during a lingerie modeling shoot?
Tasha: After seeing my photos I could see it in my face, and my body language that I felt sexy. And thinking back to where I started, I wouldn’t have had the confidence in myself to get in front of the camera in lingerie a few months ago. But now I feel so much stronger. I have the confidence to take on more photo shoots and not have to worry “am I going to see something in the pictures I don’t like?”
4. Aside from your new found muscle tone, I know you saw your strength improvements help in other aspects of your life and job. Tell me about that.
I don’t get as fatigued through out my long shifts as I used to. And I’ve also recently found that I can lift our five gallon margarita jugs over my head. Before I started training I could barely lift these huge jugs filled with alcohol, which are almost as big as me! I almost don’t want anyone’s help just so I can look like a bad ass in front of my customers!
5. As a bartender, working in a Mexican restaurant, how did you resist the temptations?
Tasha: At first the temptations of our homemade flour tortillas was really difficult and so was saying no to our queso dips. All I kept telling myself during moments like these was “you dont really want that.” I find it easy to say no to the unhealthy food when I have access to healthier foods. I ALWAYS bring my prepped meals to work so I have no excuse to eat anything that might tempt me.
6. What made you decide to work with a trainer? What are the benefits, in your opinion.
Tasha: I knew a lot of different exercises but I already felt like I hadn’t been executing them correctly. But when I felt the pressure of my upcoming photo shoot I finally gave in and decided to get reinforcements. I wanted to feel great about my shoot not uncomfortable. I understand now how to execute workouts, form, reps, weight. I can get in the gym get done and then get out in a fraction of the time I used to. I don’t think I could have gotten these results without your help! Thank you!
7. Do you have any tips/advice for other young lingerie models?
Tasha: If this is something you really want to do you have to work for it. It’s more than just being a pretty face. Smart models diet and exercise so they can snag as many jobs as they can. It’s a lucrative business and to get into it you really have to commit to taking care of yourself, and maintaining a healthy body!
